As a musical director, Gulliver has worked in many genres. These have included contemporary opera, choirs and choral societies, orchestras, and pit bands.

Amongst them are the Royal Northern Sinfonia (Mahler, Symphony No. 4), the Oxford Bach Choir, The National Orchestra of Lebanon (Le nozze di Figaro), The National Orchestra of Malta, The Band of Instruments (Bach, Mass in B minor), and the choir of Oxford's University Church.

He has conducted for productions of Hansel and Gretel, Così fan tutte, Die Entführung, La Bohème, Noye’s Fludde, Eight Songs for a Mad King, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Sweeney Todd, and directed the European premier of John Peel and M.D. Usher’s opera Neron Kaisar.

His album of music by Liszt, Britten and Godar with The Hildegard Choir was described by The Classical Review as being ‘of soufflé-like wonderment’.
